The focus

Back to the basics

Government should make everyday life better, spend responsibly and remain accountable to the people it serves.

01

Make life more affordable

Ease the pressure on working families and leave more money in people’s pockets.

02

Improve access to healthcare

Reduce wait times and help people get the care they need, when they need it.

03

Restore safety and responsibility

Keep communities safe and bring common sense back to government spending.

Meet James

A Surrey story.
A working family’s perspective.

“Government needs more people who understand what it is like to work for a living, raise a family and balance a household budget.”

Deep roots in Surrey

James was born and raised in Surrey. He spent his early childhood near Bear Creek Park before his family moved to Newton, where he grew up. After marrying his wife in 2005, they settled in Cloverdale and raised their three children.

Built by the trades

For the past 11 years, James has worked as an interior finisher with Prestige Finishing Carpentry. Before that, he worked in renovations and cabinet installation. The trades shaped his approach: be practical, work hard, don’t spend what you don’t have and find a way to get the job done.

Showing up for people

James and his family have attended Calvary Church in Fraser Heights for 16 years. He has led the media ministry and a home small group, helped develop leaders, provided pastoral care and supported people through difficult times.

Family, faith and baseball

James earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Church Ministries from Pacific Life Bible College, specializing in Counselling and Pastoral Ministry. In spring, he can often be found helping coach his son’s Cloverdale Minor Baseball team.

Why he is running

Affordability is personal.

James and his wife bought their first home in 2008. After their third child was born and his wife did not qualify for maternity leave, they made the difficult decision to sell rather than fall behind on their mortgage.

Housing prices rose dramatically, and they were never able to get back into the market. Today, James and his family live in a multigenerational home with his parents. That experience is why he wants working families to have a real voice when decisions are made.

When the cost of living rises faster than a paycheque, families live with the consequences.

If elected

The first 100 days

The first 100 days would not be about pretending one person can fix everything. They would begin with listening, accessibility and focused work.

  • 01

Establish an accessible constituency office and spend time listening to Surrey-Guildford residents.

  • 02

Focus on affordability and leaving more money in people’s pockets.

  • 03

Push for a serious review of government spending and bureaucracy to identify waste and savings without cutting essential services.

A clear direction

What James stands for

Away from work

Camping, board games and an honest disc golf handicap.

When he isn’t working, serving at church or helping with baseball, James enjoys camping with family and friends, playing board games and Pathfinder, and playing disc golf. He readily admits that his enthusiasm for disc golf is considerably greater than his skill.
